T. T. after witnessing a demonstration of its wonderful performance. TELEGRAPH CO. TEST. & HOME TELEGRAPH & TELEPHONE CO. Los Angeles, Cal., Sept. 21, 190S. HURLING AME UNDERWRITES, Santa Barbara, Cal. Dear Sirs: As per your request I called at the office of the Burlingame Telegraphing System of Telegraphy in the The Pacific Electric Bid., in this city to look over an exhibit of their system. I found that in their system they can use a single wire for one. side and a ground for the other side of the circuit in sending messages. I dis connected this apparatus and connected it up again myself, using a ground for one side of the circuit and a single iron wire for the other and operated the apparatus through 24 ohms resistance which is equal to 4 Cor. 5 miles of wire number 10 B & S gauge. I also found two or three little imperfec tions which in my mind can be very readily remedied for there is no doubt in my mind that with a few minor changes the system will be perfect. Trusting this information is what you desire, I am Very respectfully yours, .Wire Chief C. J. WENDELL. Home Tel. & Tel. Co. CALIFORNIA SAVINGS BANK, Los Angeles, Cal. r F. H. Nichols, Cashier. Dear Sirs: After most carefully investigating the long distance relay one wire Bur lingame Telegraphing Typewriter now on exhibition here I am fully con vinced that Mr. Elmer Burlingame has finally succeeded in bringing out a commercial machine that will in my opinion, ultimately displace all other jnethods of Telegraphic communications. My opinions seem to be confirm ed by all the electrical experts who have witnessed a demonstration. I. need not call your attention to the fact that the uses to which the Bur lingame Telegraphing Typewriter can be put would enable the company to place thousandsof machines which would mean an immense income to the parent company. I have a large holding in this company and am con vinced that my judgment is good in this investment. - - I am also convinced that the gentlemen associated are all sincere and capable men of affairs who will make The Burlingame Company a financial success ultimately paying immense dividends to its investors. Assuring you of my loyal support at all times, I beg to remain Yours very truly, ' N. P. SNYDER, Pres. Referring to the above we beg to advise that for some months negotia tions have been pending between the Government and The Buiiinganip Telegraphing Typewriter Co. for a private demonstration before board ap pointed, to settle the matter of fire control for coast artillery. Mr. Burlingame after consulting the many experts of "the above board to give a test and in accordance with their' ideas built some special models of the Burlin game Telegraphing Typewriter for that purpose. Today three Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriters were operated at the Presidio under the conditions that the machines would be used in actual practice. These machines were tested over an actual installed Government Cable. Messages were sent on one machine and received on two. This demonstration was made before Government officials and experts and the machines worked satisfactorily, printing ever letter on the keyboard and every numeral. - In addition to the seven miles of Government Cable used in this de monstration the machines had a resistance of 400 ohms in a circuit equal to about SO miles of average line wire. . The demonstration proving successful the members of the board and their experts signed a statement that they were witnesses to the Burlin game Telegraphing Typewriter operating over a Government Cable. 'These signed statements are on file in the office of The Burlingame Underwrit ers, San Francisco. . The members of the board have requested the Burlingame Tvpewriter company to proceed at once to Washington, D. C, to make a final demon stration. The fact that the Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter has suc cessfully operated over a government cabie installed for actual usages is a very, strong point and it is believed that the final demonstration at Fort Monroe will lead to the actual closing of the contract for the use of The Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter' in connection with everv gun used for coast artillery wherever the United States has fortifications. As stated herein the government officials' and experts signed ' docu ment as to the operation of the Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter over a Government Cable. The following persons were present at' the signing of this document: Elmer Burlingame, G. T. Swenson, B. Boreham, W. J. Kieferdorf, J. D. Mouser, J. H. Kugler. , Respectfully submitted by , , . ... ;; :. . BURLINGAME UNDERWRITERS. The Following Government Officials, Electrical Experts and others have been eye witnesses to a demonstration of The Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter Co. and have signed a statement, original of which is on file in the office of The Burlingame Underwriters, 606 Chronicle Bldg., San Francisco, Cal.; A. E. Roome, Supt Tel. R E. Ry. Co.; W. M. Chubb, Electrical Engineer,' Signal Corps; C. C. Lour, Pac Telegraph & Telephone Co.; R. H. Manahan, City Electrician, Los Angeles; Lieut. W. I Gilbert, U. S. Revenue Cutter Service; H. W. Conkiin, Signal Corps USA Home Telegraph & Telephone Co.; J. G. Griffin, Chief Electrician, U. S Navy; O. P. M. HazzarS, Chief Quartermaster, U. S. A. Cal ; G, B. Dittman, City Electrician, Los Angeles; O. Hollander,' Govt. Wireless Telegraph Service, S. F.; A. L. Fenn, Capt. Coast Artillery. Corps, Chief Signal Officer. U. S. A. No court in the land would discount the testimony of witnesses like these. Can you afford to shut your eyes and close your mind against what they say? When the recognized Leading Newspapers of America, such as the New York Sun, New Orleans Picayune, Salt Lake Tribune, Kansas City Post, Los Angeles Times and others includ ing all publications of Charlotte, when the scientific press such as the Electrical World, when a business magazine like Office Appliances, when such publications as these speak so enthu siastically about The Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter you may know that this invention , is a factor with which the whole world must reckon. The Field for The Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter is Beyond the Conception of Man. Had you invested $1,000 in Western Union Telegraph Co. at its original incorporation your investment would have netted you $1 50,000 to date. The W estern Union uses the Morse System of Telegraphy. The Burlingameis as far ahead of the Morse System as the railroad is the stage coach. An electrical invention that enables the world to do business quicker and better is bound, to succeed because the public demands the invention and is willing to pay for it. ADVANTAGES The Burlingame System eliminates experienced operators, transmits five times faster, uses only one impulse for every letter and character against as many as sis impulses in Morse Code, and is the only system in the world that can not be intercepted. The Burlingame System shows a saving of at least 75 per cent, in operating expenses to every company using their machines. Each $10 invested in Linotpye siock purchased shares that are Avorth today $200. An increase of 2,000 per cent. The Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter will do for the message business what the Linotype did for the newspapers. ; Write for government reports, etc., which will be mailed on request. Books and descriptive matter forwarded on request. BURLINGAME The Bin o 11' Y. M. C. A. Building iieie 0. T. RAMOS, State Agent Typewriter CMptte, C. Like all other great inventions The Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter Co. must be financed- The opportunity is H now offered to secure shares at 26 oer share oavable in cash or in 5 monthly oavments.
