Caldwell Speaks At Association “I'inding the Lost Lord," is the subject of the address to be delivered at the Young Men’s Christian Associa tion this afternoon at i> o’clock by the Rev. Dr. J. L. Caldwell. Dr. Caldwell is the recently elect ed president of the Presbyterian Col lege for women and is also E-erving tJie First Presbyterian church as a temporary pastor, pending the selec tion of the regular min’ister. Dr. Caldwell is a man that Jias at- trached many friends by his person ality during his brief res-idence iti the city and many who do not yet know him should attend the meeting for men at the association Sunday af ternoon. as President Caldwell always has a virile message. The meeting is free to all men of the city and not alone for member; of the Y. I\L C. A. Strangers spending the day in the city have a s:-pecial invitation. The con tract v>ill be let Tuesday at a meel- iiig 10 lie held either here or in Green ville, Mr. Lee iiaving not decided as yet. All F'iday the ojTicials and contrac tors talked ot the proposition and in the afternoon when it was seen that the contracts would not be let. the bidders and a few officials left fov Greenville lo start from there on a tour of inspection. .\nd in the mean while General ^Manager W. S. Lee is airanging all of the details for the great contract. The building of the line beuveen Greenwood, the terminus of the elec tric interurbah in the Palmetto state, and Greenville, will cost in the neigli- borhood of .^800,000, certainly nothing less and perhaps it will reach the mil lion dollar mark. The same contractors who bid for the building of the line between Charlotte and Kings Mountain are bidding for the w^ork of building the line between the two points in the sister state. Ex-Senator Taliaferro On Monetary Com. The many friends- of Mr. W. R. Taliaferro will be interested to know that his brother. Hon. .James P. Taliaferro. ex-United States Senator, has been appointed by the president as a member of the National Mone tary Committee, with a salary of $7,- .500. Mr. Taliaferro made a fine rec ord as senator. He is ore of the ablest men of Fla. Dr. Lafferty to Speak Jo Boys at Y. M, C. A, The committee in charge of the meeting for boys at the Young Men’s Christian Association have secured Dr. Robt. H. Laffetry to address the meeting this evening at 5 o’clock. A special number, &ong service, will be a solo by Miss Adelaide Mose- ly. All bo.vs of the city over twelve years of age are welcome at these meetings. —Rev. E. B. Hunter, I'astor of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian church at Sharon, S. C., was a visitor in thee ity, making the trip here and return by auto. 5 O’clock Vesper Service. Miss Palmer, of the Carnegie Li brary, will be the speaker at the 5 o’clock vesper service at the Young Womenls Christian Association this afternoon.
