Knotty Problem ts Before Ihe Chiej A problem that has been bothering Chief of Police Christenbury for some time is how to obtain possession of cliildreii who are being reared by mothers not fit to rear them and in stirroundings tending to making them depraved. There is a home—the Alexander Home—where the children could be cared for if the police could obtain legal possession of the children. The chief has upon his heart at pres ent five children whose mothers are not leading good lives and who are practically without a home. Their ages are from two to seven years. To permit them to remain in their pres ent surroundings would make crimi nals of them all. They can be saved now, perhaps, if the police can obtain possession of them. It ir a big question, one that has confronted city ofRicals every where. The five children are in Charlotte now and it is an easy matter for any one to learn of their surroundings.
