Page 8 The Carolina Journal February 19, 1969 Publicity Regulations at UNC-C The Publicity Rules and Regulations, after much reviewing, revising, discussion and dispute are published here in their final form. These rules have been made with the student’s interest in mind, not just to regulate and censor, but to give everyone equal opportunity to display his publicity. So far, no club or organization has lost the privilege to display publicity. This fact speaks well for everyone because the publicity committee is not here simply to rip down posters, to confiscate signs, or to point an accusing finger at a outdated, improperly placed poster. The members of the publicity committee are listed so that the student knows where to seek answers about publicity and where to lodge a complaint about confiscated materals. There have also been many complaints about nothing ever being publicized or that everything is poorly publicized. If each organization or club would take the time to make about 30 posters, they would find that the campus can be covered more adequately and the “I didn't even hear about it” comment would be reduced. Please read all publicity rules CAREFULLY. Special attention should be given to sections 4, 5 and 6 listed under Restrictions of Publicity. If there are any complaints, comments or questions about Publicity, contact cither Uonna Raley, Publicity Committee Chairman, or any of the members. persons responsible fail to do it. Failure to remove publicity will result in the following procedure: 1. A written warning will be issued to the delinquent organization or individual at the discretion of the Publicity Committee. 2. Failure to heed the written warning will result in the suspension of privileges for the next scheduled event. 3. The privilege of using bulletin boards will be withdrawn from any organization or individuals for one semester if proper action has not been taken on the two previous warnings. Personal Notices All personal notices will be dated by members of the Publicity Committee and can remain on the bulletin boards for three weeks only. All notices must be identified with some college organization or be signed by the person posting it. Restrictions of Publicity 1. Limit to the size of the posters. Posters on larger bulletin boards are limited to the regular size poster paper, 28 by 22 inches. 2. Limit to number of posters. Posters are limited only to the fact that no person or organization may place more than one poster on any bulletin board. 3. Tripods. The tripods in the library. University Union, and other buildings may be used for publicity; however, the size of the posters is limited to 28 by 22 inches, and the number of posters is limited to only one per tripod. 4. Placement. The policy of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has been to prohibit using walls, windows, doors, planters, trash recepticles, etc. for the purpose of publicity. No posters, banners, signs, etc. are to be placed on top of, or affixed to the sides of any building on campus. This policy applies to both indoors and outdoors. 5. Priority. The student who places his publicity on a bulletin board or tripod first has priority over all other students of organizations. If additional publicity is placed over any material already on a bulletin board or tripod, it will be removed and left at the University Union Desk. 6. Missing Posters. If a student finds any of his publicity removed from the bulletin boards or from other places, he should check to see if they are at the University Union Desk. 7. Election Material. All election publicity must be removed by 5 p.m. on the second class day following close of elections. FUN?
