Special Activities
Committee
The Special Activities
Committee needs talented people
to help organize and plan their
program for this year.
Among the activities to be
sponsored by the committee are a
monthly series of informal
gatherings called “Tea and
Crumpets Hours,” the Holiday
Dance and Holiday Queen
Contest, one-day trips to football
games, and a talent show in April.
Some of the other activities
sponsored by the Special
Activities Committee are the Miss
UNC-C Contest, dinner raffles,
and seasonal decorations for the
union lobby.
If you are interested in helping
in any of these activities, your
talents are needed. Leave your
name at the information desk or

True Liberal
TWO
MONTHS
FREE
What is a true liberal? A true liberal is trustworthy, loyal)
helpful, courteous, kind, cheerful, thrifty and brave.
A liber^ is trustworthy. He is a man that you can put
your tmst into and he never stabs you in the back.
A liberal is loyal to a cause that he believes in and stays
firmly with it.
A liberal is helpful. He lives by helping others and is
seldom selfish.
A liberal is courteous. He respects others and lets them,
form their own opinions.
A liberal is cheerful.
Even when times are good, a liberal is thrifty. He spends
his money wisely and makes sure it is used perfectly.
A liberal is brave. He goes into the dark woods of despair
m search of his friend Hope.
A true liberal is all these things. Of course there are no
true liberals, but there are many people who deserve to be
called liberal because they adhere to a combination of the
basic values described above. A liberal is a man; a man who is
considerate of others and a man who looks at the world
through glasses that distinguish no colors.
The Star Spangled
Banner Award
This week’s Star Spangled Banner Award will be shared by
two people and a group. They deserve to be awarded because
of their daring deeds.
The Young Americans For Freedom won a share in the
award for their September publication of the Carolina
Renaissance. I am used to reading slanted news because I read
the Observar every morning and the News every ni^t, but I
have never been exposed to such projected propaganda as
