fraternities on this campus, but I wonder now at my former support. If the Greek horror I witnessed from the pavement in the learning faces of the attitudes of Greek organizations, then they must be suppressed as all such self styled elites have been suppressed throughout history. Michael C. Houk President, Moore Hall NASCAR To the editors: We read with interest the coverage of the Legislature's December 3 meeting in your December 12, 1973 issue. We were natually interested in the portion of that story that dealt with the letter to our Corporation requesting serious consideration be given to the cancellation of the World 600 NASCAR Winston Cup Grand National race on May 26. All of us are quite aware of the energy crisis and are ready and anxious to work toward possible solutions for this problem facing and society. We also feel that there are many people among the uninformed who quickly point to the highly visible auto racing industry as a leading culprit in fuel consumption. It ain't so. Enciosed is a breakdown of the comparative fuel consumption by Leisure Time Activities. The figures were compiled by Motor Sports Marketing Corp. for the National Motorsports Committee. The study was made to bring light to the actual situation for those who quickly accuse motersports without benefit of fact or figure. It might be of interest that college basketball uses more fuel annually than all national events of motorsports like the World 600, Indianapolis 500, U.S. Grand Prix, etc. High School basketball uses more fuel than il forms of auto racing. Enclosed also is a copy of the Sources for the study such as the NFL, General Electric, Associated Press, National Federation of State High School Athletic Association, etc. The complete report is available from National Motorsports Committee of ACCUS, Suite 801, 1629 "K" St,, NW, Washington, D. C. 20006, for any of your readers wanting additional information. We trust this information will provide a factual basis for future consideration the legislature gives the energy situation.
