the members after having de

PROCTOR GETS
HONORABLE MENTION
Nick Chamis, CC’s pepperpot
guard, was selected by the con
ference coaches to hold down a
berth on the North Carolina Jun
ior College Conference all-state
team. Jack Proctor, Owl center,
received honorable mention on
the team.
The 10-man all-state team for
1952 is as follows: Darrell Floyd,
Lee Collins, and Bill Burris, Win
gate: Jack Powell, Oak Ridge;
Sidney Sellars, Belmont Abbey;
Bob Loftin, Pfeiffer; Buck Flem
ing, Louisburg; Henry Smith,
Gardner-Webb; Nick Chamis,
Charlotte College; and Smith
Langdon, Campbell.
When the Charlotte College
Owls concluded their basketball
season on February 20 against
Mars Hill, Jack Proctor and Nick
Chamis had accounted for over
803 points between them on the
team’s nine wins and 12 losses.
Proctor, who also combinud
with forward Gus Heffner to
form the backboard strength of
the club, led the attack with 420
points for an average of 20 points
per contest. Chamis, the gallop
ing guard, averaged just short
of 20 but tallied 379 points even
though illness hampered his play
in the last few games.
The Owl’s conference record of
three wins and nine losses did
not qualify them for the Junior
Conference Tournament in Shel
by, but these boys placed at the
top of the ladder in Conference
scoring and this led to their be
ing chosen to spots on the all-
state squad which will meet the
tournament champs at a later
date.

season standings for the eight
