Charlotte College can well be proud of both Arthur Farley and Sula Floroj. On Thursday, December 4th, at 12:0 noon, the Political Science Class visited Federal Court to wit ness the final ceremony in the naturalization of seventeen aliens. The candidates for citizenship were presented to the Court by the Clerk of Court. Federal Judge Wil son Warlick presided, and upon completion of the simple ceremony, he gave an encouraging speech to the new citizens, referring to the leccrd naturalized citizens have made in Charlotte and Asheville. .Judge Warlick stated that of the hundreds of aliens who have been tiaturalized in this area since 1940, not one has had an indictment for criminal offense lodged against him. He also pointed out the large number of countries represented in this naturalization ceremony. The countries represented were: Austria, with one candidate; China, one; Czechoslovakia, one; Denmark, one; England, five; Ger many, six; Greece, one; and Le banon, one. Student Government Planning New Activities The governing body of Charlotte College, better known as the Stu dent Council, is striving toward more and better school activities and spirit. (Don’t you believe the spirit is I’ising!!) So far we have little to boast about—but we’re trying! We are sorry the Student Union Building did not reach the heights of our anticipation, but we want you to stop by the “snack bar” in the hall in front of the library whenever you feel the longing for cigarettes, trjckcrs, candy, or cokes. Purchase your snacks here and reap the profits! Did you see the “Carrousel Pa rade?” What I'm leally asking, “Did you see the Charlotte College float?” This float involved a good bit of work and we want everyone who helped with this to know that their services weix' very much ap preciated. A new project that is being work ed jn now is a “Coffee Hour”. Or maybe a better name would be “get better acquainted hour.” This will be held about every three weeks between .5:.30 and ):o() in the basement of school in order to give all the students and faculty an opportunity to drop by for a few minutes. There will be some thing to drink and eat. This coffee hour will be sponsored by the Stu dent Council and we hope everyone will take advantage of it. We wish to remind the students that we are representing them and they are invited to attend our meetings and bring with them ideas that might be helpful or beneficial to the school. These we are always glad to have! It is rather difficult *o give the student body a complete bieak- dovin of what happens at the Stu dent Council meetings, so if you cannot attend the meetings read the copy of the minutes that is placed on the bulletin board after each meeting!
