J flRLO n Vol. 5, No.yrj Charlotte College, Charlotte, N. C. May 28, 1954 Vaya Con Dios (Spanish: Go with Coii) Well, it has bi‘eii done before and I K'uesa we’ll do it again— graduate (I hope). After f>'i'alua- tion, I will no longer be a ])art of the Charlotte ColleKe student body, but a nieinbei' of the Alumni Association. P'’or their guidance, without which we might have gone astray, I, on behalf of the Student Council, would especially like to thank Mrs. Winningham and Miss Cone. Their capable assistar,ce and inspii-ation have been a helj) beyond expression in w'ords of gratitude. Anothei- group, which 1 think is the BEST that ('. C. has ever had, is the STUDENT BODY. Their support of the Student Council has been very satisfying to me, as well as to the other members of our stu dent government. I would like to express my thanks to the members of the STUDENT GOVERNMEN1’ who have stuck with it all the way. They ai’e the ones whom yoj can thank for the good dances, smooth oi>erating elections, good publications and so on go the many activities of this governing body. They have really put forth effort not to help them selves but to helj) you. It is now u]) to you. Freshmen, to make a bigger and better Char lotte College. It is my belief that Senior-Facuhy Banquet The faculty of Charlotte College has planned a bantjuet for the grad uates. It will be held at the Chez Alontet Restaurant .lune .5, 19.51. Miss ( one will be Mistress of Cere monies. Other members of the fac ulty will be in charge of certain parts of the program. Dr. Garinger will have the invocation. Entertain ment will be furnished by lien .\lex- ander, Donnie Whitfield, Mervin Koard and I’an White. The graduates are really looking forward to this. .Many thanks to the Charlotte College for their interest and thoughtfulness. GLENN KEEVER. next year, you will have a larger student body as a direct result of the additional funds which C. C. aciuired this year. I hope you will remember the “Corn Ball," the “Christmas Dance,” the “Owl’s Roost,” the Bas ketball team, the parties, and all the other i)hases of the Student (iovernnient’s operations as some thing to be proud of. Best of luck to all of you in the future—in senior college, in the ca reer of your choosing, oi' sei’ving your country. I hope to see all of you again, so until then, Vaya Con Dios. P. S.: “See you ai'ound the Owl’s Roost.” Tax For Charlotte College Approved The work has been done and the mission has been accomplished. The tax election has been approved and at last the city is behind us. Words more dramatic have never been spoken in the history of ('harlotte College. At long last the future of our school is assured. Each and eveiy student who has done anything to help make this election a success may be proud. If you contacted one voter, passed out one handbill, made one tele phone call, or said one good word about (’harlotte College, you have helped. Years later as we watch Charlotte College grow— as we know she shall—we can look back and say to ourselves, “I helped make that possible.” To each and every student we extend our hearty thanks for your helj). All students have been helpful with their work in this election, and many have been outstanding. We have space here to mention only a few w’ho have gone beyond the call of duty. To ,Iim PMtzgerald, Jerry Martin, ,Ioe Kiser and others, we say “thanks, boys.” Most of the credit for the pas sage of this bill must go to Miss Bonnie Cone. W'ithout her, every thing would have been lost at sea. How many bulletins and letters she and Joyce Dunn have mailed, no one will ever know. She indeed de serves all the credit in the world. Neither can we forget the work done by the faculty as a whole. They have worked tremendously hard, all of them. Most of all. we should extend our thanks to the votei's of Chai'lotte who saw the need for our school and who did something about it. We know in our heai'ts, we have all the faith in the woild, that they will not be disajipointed. Each atid every student at Charlotte College owes it to the city to help the school grow. We shall succeed. You students who will be back next yeai- will finl a much bettei' school, better and more coui'ses, with vocatiotial courses being of fered for those who want them. You are the students whom the city will be watching. The people have done their part, and now it is your turn to do your. We know you will. Thanks again, students, faculty, alumni, peojjle of Charlotte. You have made it possible for Char lotte College to survive and grow. We promise that you will never be sorry.
