On that evening at 8:15, Mr. Harvey L. Woodruff will meet with the students of the school to start a choral group. Mr. Woodruff comes to Charlotte College with a long and successful record. He has founded and direct ed several choral groups. Mr. Woodruff received his B.S. Degree in music education from the New York University and his M.A. in music education from Columbia Teachers College in New York. He also did graduate work at Juilliard School of Music, Christiansen Choral School, Rutgers University, and Westminster Choir College. Once upon a time there was an ambitious and unscrupulous Afri can tribesman who decided to steal the village chief’s throne in the hope that the theft would enable him to become chief himself. One night he sneaked out of his grass hut, crept cautiously into the throne room, and made off with the object of his greed. He decided to hide the throne on the roof of his hut, among the vines and bushes. During the night the weight of the throne caused the roof to collapse, killing the avaricious tribesman. MORAL: People who live in grass houses shouldn’t stow stones. Yale Record Compliments of The KAY JEWELRY CO. We are all looking forward to the evening that Mr. Woodruff will meet with the students of Owl Land. Charlotte College students will benefit greatly from their as sociation with Mr. Woodruff if they show as much interest in the formation of a choral group as Mr. Woodruff already has. The World’s Most Powerful Handgun For a man who likes the feel and power abilities of a heavy revolv er, this is it—the new Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum revolver. This new revolver is the product of American ingenuity and the close cooperation of two of America’s leading companies. Remington and Smith and Wesson. It delivers its 240 grain bullet at 1,570 feet per second, giving it a striking force of almost 1,315 foot-pounds of energy. This makes the .44 Magnum revolv er almost twice as powerful as the well known .357 Smith and Wesson Magnum which has a striking force of 690 foot pounds. The .44 Magnum has the excellent finish and smooth action that char- Sports At Charlotte College This is your chance to: make a name for yourself; build yourself ohysically; help your school; pre pare for sports at a four-year in stitution ; and to join a team that wll not lose a game this year. YPu’II have to admit that in a school of this size nothing will make you known better, faster and more favorably to the majority of the students than the fact that you are a member of the school’s team. Like most of us you will find that the most enjoyable way of accomplish ing anything is to make a game of it and this goes for phys. ed. Here at C.C. we don’t have the time to teach it, but that doesn’t mean that we don't value it. You notice the man with a firm grip and a good stride. Even when it comes to studying you can easily see that the mind can be no better than the body in which it is housed. If you’re good, you owe it to your college and to yourself to be number one man on the first string, and if you’re not so good we’ll show you how to be first string material. Who knows, this might just be the first step in a basketball scholarship at the col lege of your choice. Good luck! Marksmen have found the accuracy excellent, but the re coil is severe enough for most re viewers to recommend the wearing of gloves when firing the handgun. If used with the regular .44 cart ridge the 3 lb. gun absorbs the re coil so well that one may well sus pect that he was firing a much smaller caliber handgun if he did not know the difference. The gun sells for $135 and is an excellent buy for one who wants a large caliber revolver that uses two different types of ammunition.
