Laurinbury Exchange : Just be
yond Old Hundred, early last Thurs
day morning, as the night train was
swiftly speeding along down grade,
engineer F. B. Lewis saw the imago
of what he thought a man some dis
tance ahead sitting on the track.
Just before the engine reached hi n
he aroused and undertook to cross
the track. Before he could do so
the engine 6truck him and knocked
him up on the flag stand, to which
his coat became fastened, and for
about 100 yards, before the train
could be stopped, he hung suspended
therefrom with his head downward,
repeatedly striking the cross ties.
On examination his forehead was
found broken in and also other seri
ous wounds, which had killed him
instantly. He was identified as Mr.

a very kind-hearted, clever man and
