tv: Salem, N. C., June 3.
PIThis aftert.oon the art exhibit,
eocupying three rooms of South
Hall, was opened to visitors. This
department is iu charge of Jliss
Gertrude E. Siewers, who also is the
head of the industrial department
"We first entered the two rooms con
taining the paintings and drawings,
the latter from life. The exhibit
was certainly charming. It seemed
to me it was on a higher grade than
ever before. There was every imag
inable subject represented. 1 saw a
number of large mirrors with the
frames most beautifully painted;
some sweet baby faces ; a number of
iare panels so natural that one
might have a desire to pluck the
llowers, and several studies in cray
ens, etc., that were taken from the
fruits themselves. On the other
s de was the room containing the
faucy work exhibit Here, too, there
was the greatest variety. But the
centre of attraction was a number of
dresses made by the young ladies of
the sewing class, lhe work, all
handmade, was almost a3 regular as
machine stitching, and every part
was perfectly finished.
Tonight was the Seniors' second
evening, when the remainder of the
essays, sixteen in number, were read.
These essays were very brief and
subjects quite unique, as, for in
stance, "Cranks," "Beyond Salem
Lies Winston," " The Utility of a
Dude," " The Hypatia of the Fifth
Century " and the " Hypathiaof the
Moat of the young ladies were
again dressed in white, and they
presented a very charming picture.
The building was crowded as usual
with a most attentive audience.
Hardly a whisper was heard during
t he exercises. We were glad to see
our last commencement speaker, Dr.
Sanderlin, present tonight
mala a long
tail (tale) short.

a prompt return for his money by
purchasing Dr. Pierce's Pleasant
There's nothing like them. They
are tiny Liver Pills, sugar-coated,
but thorough in results. One Pellet
is laxative, three to four cathartic.
For Indigestion, Biliousness, and
r.ll derangements of the Stomach,
Liver and Bowels, they work like a
charm, and you get a lasting benefit
and a permanent cure.
They're the cheapest Pitt, because
safe and sure, while the manufact

You only pay for the good you
get. Can you ask more ?
What's the use 1 suffering any
more from those dizzy 6pells, the
headaches and all ; make the attack
yourself, with one or two of these

will do the rest. They are a perfect

No "one" doubts that the
Kabo corset lasts a year
without breaking or kinking
or shifting a " bone," because
we refund the money in case
of a single item of failure
in these respects.
And no one doubts that
the Kabo answers its purpose
and suits the wearer, because,
if it don't, we refund the
money on call within a week
or two or three.
It is the unbreakable cor
set, the Kabo. It is the
un-wear-out-able corset, the
Kabo. It is the corset that
suits, the Kabo.
, The only question is : Do
you want the Kabo kind of
a corset ?
We have a primer on Cor
sets for you at the store.
