We have endeavored to give our readers the benefit of the best syn apsis we could of the speech Thurs day night by Senator Pritchardi It :was an able production delivered in a way unofifcnsive to those of oppo site views and the whole manner of the speaker was calculated to win to . his theories. He is skillful in the manipulation of figures and in turn ing, what seems to be facts, against his opponents when it is , clear that he could take the same facts and A. We have neither time nor Tspace today to note some clear and palpable mieleadings of the speech1 I to which we shall refer later, while -of course there is much in his mas tiipulations that are - fitted-, in his story of the preacher who said to his congregation: "Some things about the subject you will under stand Vu'd I "won't; 'some ' things jl wiUunifergtandiand yw won'fc, and iopi thingarneither of ,:ua ' will un derstand." Nowadays when women are trying to do everything it auot -t strange that many things are VVerdbheV It Is not strange that tlere are all kinds of physical and Rental dis turbances. If the woman who is a doctor, or a lawyer, or a; journalist, or in business would! not try to be a society woman too ,itj might be diff erent; but the woman who knows when she has done a1 day 's work has yet to be born. Usually a woman's way is to keep doing until she drops. Working in this way has manifold eyils. The most common trouble resulting from overexertion, either mentally or physically, is constipa tion of the bowels, with all its at tendant horrors. Or. BRYAN'S ACCEPTANCE. His Letter Made Public This Morn- 1 Ins: Wants to Enter Office Free From Any Personal Desire Except to Pro ve Worthy off tbe Confidence 1 , . of the. Country His Able Analysts and Defense of the Democratic Form of Government. Lincoln, Neb., Sepl;. 9. Mr. Bryan today made public his letter accepting the Democratic nomina tion. In opening he says : I accept - 1 the nomination tendered ;hy you on behalf of the Democratic party. In so doing, I appreciate the high honor and grave responsibilities and am deeply impressed witn the mag nitude of.the power vested and the enormous influence which can be wielded for the benefit or the people. I wish to office if elected free from iDiury of enter the any per- sonal desire except to prove worthy of the confidence of the country. He says tha't human j udgment is fal" lible enough when unbiased by eel fish consideration. He willnotuse the patronage of office to advance a personal ambition. He announces emphatically that under rJo circum stances, if elected, will he didate for re-election. He be a can- - unequivo- cally endorses every plank in the platform and says the Democratic form ot government is corjjducive to the highest degree of civilization, because it opens to each individual the greatest opportunitiesjfor devel opments and stimulates to the high est jtheir endeavors by insuring to each the ; full enjoyment bf all re wards of toil ; except such jcontribu- tion as is necessary to support the government which protects him; it ignores all differences of wealth, knows no creed and welcomes all to a common brotherhood. It guaran tees equal treatment to all. The Democratic party is pledged to de fend the laws of the Constitution. It will be noticed while the United Cli-A a a I n m oiaies guarantees 10 everyi otaie a Republican form of government and empowered to protect- each State against invasion, i authorized to interfere in is not the do mestic affairs of State, except upon application to the legislature of her State or upon application of the Executive, when the legislature is not in session, this theory being based upon the supposition that each State, because intimately ac quainted with local conditions, is better qualified than the President 10 juage ine necessiiy iorieaerai as sistance.
