rsist'ulls C huck Full of Matches ami
Itouh on Kals.
Somebody is awful mean. Mr.
W D Anthony brought to this office
two pieces of biscuit found in his
front yard, where they had been
put to poison "Shep," his fine shep
herd dog. One piece is besmeared
with rough on rats and the other
piece is chuck full of match heads.
"Shep" is very choice and will not
eat just any old thing that is thrown
carelessly around. A great many
of Mrs. Anthony's chickens have
died from the effects of the poison
that is ttu-slv; scattered over their
premises. It is mean to set poison
anywhere for a brute, but when it
is thown into one's own yard it is a
gieat deal worse. The biscuit nlono
is enough to kill any ordinary dog,
without the poison.
Just What lie Ihxpecti.
A follow we all know at the club,
by name Jasper, is a man who at
times manages to be genuinely
funnyr. Strolling down the street
the other day. he came unexpected
ly upon a crowd gathered together
just outside a chemist's shop.
The centre of attraction proved
to be a lady with a wasp like waist, j
who, for some reason or other, had
elected to swoon there.
Tenderly, very tenderly, they
o.jkivatr-d it will produce ;.t ie.ast
t vo bales to the acre, and pot-eibly

this cotton in uee all over the South
the farmer can reduce his acreage
by oyer one-half aud raise more
cotton than he do.'S now. This land
that he does not use can be put to
a profitable use, and tie income of
the farmer will be doubled as com
pared with the amouuu of labor em
ployed in th r tiding of cotton.
