CAN'T COME. moan tain Island Won't Give Concord Two Gam Das e ball Probably End. ea or rne seaaonv It was a great disappointment to the lovers of baseball this morning when Mountain Island telephoned that, they could not come to this city for two games this week. Saturday the Mountain Islanders made a proposition to come for two games, which was accepted, but gaye ns no definite answer as to whether or not they would come until this morning. Baseball for this season is a thing' of the past for Concord, but there is consolation in knowing that when our boys have been called upon they invariably put up the proper stuff to win every game. Good material will have been developed by next season, and our boys will be found doing business in the same old style as this year. WILL PLAY IN CH4BL0TTE. At a late hour this afternoon a - . - message was received from Mountain Island accepting the proposition of the Concord dovh to meet them in Charlotte Wednesday afternoon; These two nines are probably the best in the State, and will put up a good game. As many as a hundred Ooncordians will witness the game. Free Pills Send your address to H E Buck len & Co., Chicago, and get a free sample box of Dr. King's New Life Pills. Rssidents on Spring street were treated to a beautiful sight Sunday night about 9 o'clock at the home of Mrs James R Ervin. The attrac tion was the opening of a cactus b ossom, which, when opened, was about the siza of the crown of a man's hat. Its petals were about fi?e inches long, and being white, emblematic of purity, the blossom was: lovely to behold. One pecu liarity of the flower is that it blooms only at night, and another is that its loveliness is seldom equaled.
