A special to the Charlotte Obsers ver from Washington, dated Sept. 2nd, says: Orders were issued tos day for the mustering out of the Second North Carolina Regiment now at St. Simon's Inland, Ga. The papers of the regiment will be ex amined and the command sent to Raleigh in a few days. On arrival Uaere, 30 day tqrloughg will ha is sued to the men. All furloughs will be made to expire the same day, and any one failing to report at Raleigh on that day will be cons lidered a deserter. No traveling ex penses will be allowed the men who go to their homes, but they will re ceive commutation on furlough ra tions at the rate of 25 cents each day. Sufficient details of men will be retained in Raleigh to guard government property and assist in clerical work of winding up the regiment's affairs . At the muster-out the men will be examined physically in a most thorough manner. They will then receive all the pay and allowances due them. W B Oney, who is now pass tor of a charge at Craven, in Rowan county, and who has accepted a call from St. Andrews Lutheran church at this place, will be here the first of October. His family will move here a short while afterwards and will very probably live in one of Mr. M U Walter's residences at Cannon ville. Mrs. Marshall Crowell, of Albe marle, returned here yesterday evening from Harrisburg, where she has been visiting her parents. She left this morning for her home. 1 Mies Pattie Adams, of Monroe, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Dr. Hou ston. We are glad to note that Miss Adams will very probably attend school here. . Mr. D cherry Fisher, of M. Pleasant, formerly clerk at the St. Cloud hotel, is in our city today. He will leave tomorrow evening for Cincinnati, Ohio. Mrs. Fannie Bynum, whoha3 been spending several months in Chatham county, has returned to the home of Mr. R A Brower. Mrs. Dr. Pemberton, of Monroe, accom panies her here. Agent Gowan Dusenbury was before the board laying in a complaint in regard to putting jn the sewer pipe above the depot. He stated that after consul- tation with some others, he believed it would be an injury to the health of those Hying about the depot. After discussing tbe matter, how ever, the action of the Bewerage committee was endorsed by the board. A committee, consisting of Messrs Irvin Woodhouse, W A WilkinsoD, Chas. Sappenfield, together with Mayor Crowell, were appointed to ensider the pavement matter on 8outh Main street. Nothing else of importance was reported. They adjourned to meet on Monday evening.
