The members of Orpan church were glad to hear that the salary of Kcv. Geo. H Cox was raised, and ke will stay with -us at least an other year. Kev, Cox has been with us four vears, and has won the hearts of the mernbers, so they will be loth to give him up. Last Sunday at Sunday school it was decided not to go into win ter quarters this winter, but con tinue all winter. A double knot was tied at the home of Mrs. Betty Barger at 4 p. m., Dec. 24th. " Thd Woman's Foreign Mission ary Society of the First Presby terian church will meet on next Monday evening at 3 o'clock at the residence of Mrs. D B Morri son. This will be an important meeting, the business before it being the appointment of com mittees and the election of officers for the coming year. The execu tive committee will be present prepared to submit nominations, and if the members of the society desire to retain the present officers put in an appearance at the meet ing on Monday and say so. Mr. A L Castor, of No. 4 town ship, tells us that on Thursday about 3 o'clock hii kitchen roof was discovered to be on fire. Din ner had been delayed and Mr. Castor was on 5 hand. A consid erable patch of the roof was burnt when he sprang to the res cue. Chief boger, after watching the manouvres for some time, arrested a young man named John Murph, who lnes out in the country, and who says he is only sixteen years of age. . One witness testified that he got a pint of wa. tered whiskey from the young man. When Chief Boger arrested the boy three empty flasks were found in his pocket..
