ST. LOUIS' SHAME. 4! rand Jurj Finds Gross Corruption in Municipal Oilleers -They Sell Votes at "From $100 to $100,000. . St. Louis, Mo., comes to the front now s.s, one of the most corrupt municipalities as to city officials in this or any other country. The grand jury has presented a number of officials as follows: Bribery, Robert N Synder; attempted bribery, Ed ward Butler and John II Becker; perjury, George Kebush. The jury unearthed the darkest kind of fraudulent scheming that has been going on for at least ten years in which a combination for corruption has existed. Of ficial votes have been paid for, rang ing in price $100 to $100,000. One of the officials that could have drawn $300 a year legiti mately got bold enough to boast thru he had made $25,000 a year 'OUo of his office. ' The statute of limitation pro tects most of those found to have been engaged in the dark and vallainous breaches of official in tegrity. ' Ransom Took Chloral. Asheville, N. C, April 5 James Ransom, a nephew of Senator Ransom, committed suicide this afternoon at his home by taking clhoral. Mr. Ransom had, been in ill. health for some time. He was em ployed at the Southern freight depot in the capacity of expense billclcr.?. On .account of con tinued illness he had not been at his desk for about a week.
