Mrs. Thornwell White Dead.
Mrs. Thornwell T White died
at 2:30 a. m. today (Monday) at
the home of her widowed sister-in-law,
Mr5. James White, near
Mt. Ull'a, Rowan County.
She had been afflicted with in-
flammatory rheumatism and a
compticationof very reducing
nature sat in a few days ago
which qui&dy did its fatal work.
Mrs. White's maiden name
was Miss iuargarette Hofkins
of Baltimore. She was a sister
to Mrs. Dr, .larsh.
One year ago in the month of
June she was united in marriage
to him who now so soon suffers
the bereavement of a young and
lovely bride.
She was 19 years of age.
The remains will arrive here
tonight and will be hurried to
morrow in the city cemetery.
Our sincere sympathies are
extended to those on whom this
stroke falls with appalling
-weight.

Mrs. Cooper was washing on the
bank and had her children with
her. One of the children, a
baby, fell into the water. The
mother rushed to its assistance,
and Pearl, Cleveland and Robert,
aged 15, 13 and 11, respectively,
followed their mother and were
drowned before help arrived.
The baby and Mrs. Cooper were
rescued. The bodies of the chil
dren were buried to day in ono
grave.
