Judge Boyd pronounced sen
tejice on the defendants in the
mos Owen cherry tree cases.
The sentence emphasizes re
sfitution. It is required that Dr.
Frank Bright, Rev. T Bright and
C D Wilkie and G W Rollins, C
C Watkhrs, M C Padgett and C
F Ceer pay into tlio court by the
October terra tho costs of the
cases and 61L',CC0, which will oe
paid to the women who were do
frauded of money by the opera
t ion of the endless ain swindle.
The case against H W Glower
was nol pressed, while in the
case against W Ji Hester the
prayer-for judgment was con
tinued. At the October term Judge
Boyd will give his final decision
as to the fate of the defendants.
He said yesterday that if restitu
tion were made he woula .sen
tence no defendant to the peni
tentiary, and it was inticmled
that imprisonment in jail for a
short period will be the severest
punish rncnt inflicted.
"The sentence means my
financial ruin," said Dr. Frank
Bright yesterday afternoon, and
the other defendants also acr
that it will take all tho juoney
they have To pay the sum re
quired. In the meantime all the pris
oners are free onbonds.
