Bostian, who has been operating a saw mill on John Ketchie's place near town, sold his outfit to the Messrs. Morton and it was shipped Wednesday to a point near Albemarle. CJreen File has purchased the Luther Sloop residence and will occupy it scon as a home place. G. R Miller spent several days in Columbia last week where he took part in a num ber of big games of bajl. He returned home Tuesday. WV F. Walker will move in to the G. A. Ketchie house on Worth Main Street within a few days. Macy's Olympic Shows will be here all next week to gath er up considerable cash and ' say goodbye. Rev. A. Shulenberger was in Salisbury on business yes terday evening. Rev. and Mrs. C A. Brown had the pleasure of the pres ence at tea Saturday evening, Prof, and Mrs R. D. Setzer, who has been at Kannapolis with the Patterson-Young Mer cantile Co. , has returned home. We understand that the store there will be closed. V. A . Kimmons spent Wed nesday here on business. Mr. Kimmons is now located at Hickory and is doing busi ness near the depot. Uncle Pat has been down at Kannapolis this week do ing some brick work for John Pethel. ' Mrs. Frank Safrit came in yesterday afternoon to visit her brother, A. T. Bost. Mrs. Aaron Yost spent a portion of yesterday, after noon in Salisbury. Mrs. Stokes Wilhelm spent a short while in Salisbury yesterday evening. Mrs. Herman Efird and Miss Maggie Efird visited in Salisbury yesterday evening. Rev. and Mrs. W. H. Riser and Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Sif ferd went up to Salisbury yesterday evening in Mr. Sifferd's new automobile.' Rev. R. L. Patterson, of Charlotte, arrived here yes terday evening for a short visit. ' ' M L. Robert MaBten Phillips, associate editor of The Greensboro Daily News, died suddenly of heart failure at his country home near Carthage tonight. He went there last week for a ten-day rest after strenuous work during his attendance at the late session of the State Senate, in which body he served as read ing olerk. ' Mr. Phillips was a practical printer and rose from the ranks o the editorial desk. After a short career in Moore County he aided in the establishment of The Greensboro Telegram in 1896, was later city editor, ana associate editor of The Raleigh: Morning Post and editor, of , The Newborn Daily Sun. ' He came to The Greensboro' News ' as, associate editor in 1909. Robert M. Phillips, was one of the best known and most popular newspaper men"- of this State; He was once president of the State Press Association and at present a member of the ; executive com mitte. He had been a. leader and prominent figure ihtthe goadroads movement in this; State and : as prominent in Church and fra ternal circles y' sue. rniuips was xnown in Salisbury. ' He was one of . the prominent editors there - during the recent state convention and acoompanied the party to Whit ney. .Heart disease was the cause of his death. . V.'MU ler naa - been empioyea as J clerk at Templeton & Yost's Mrs. Martin Blackwelder, aged about 8Q years died Monday nigTt at her home nearLandis after an illness of several weeks. The fu neral was held Tuesday afternoon at Lutheran Chapel, near China Grove, and the . interment ' was in the cemetery at .that place. .De-r ceased leaves to mourn her death: a devoted husband, four sons and. three daughtars, all of whom were at her bedside at the. time of her death', thirty-six grand children, seven great-grand children,'' two brothers, two sisters and a host of relatives and fifedds. She was a life-long, faithful and consistent member of Lutheran Chapel -B. L ohurch from which she was buried the day following, her death . A very large concoujrse of people at tended the funeral' services whioh was conducted by her pastor, Rev. 0..A. Brown, assisted by the Rev. B. S. Brown, of Landis, after which her body was tenderly laid to rest in Green Lawn Cemetery to await - the resurrection of the jutt. Sorrowing pnes, you mourn, but not as those1, who have no hope. ''Blessed Ate the dead who die in the Lord."'- Mies Mary Elisabpth Albright, familiarly known, as "Aunt Bet sy," was found dead in bed Thurs day morning. Aunt Betsy was in her 79th year. The. funeral servioes were held in the home four miles nprtb'of China Grove, Thursday at 4 :00 p. m., by her pastor, Hev. O. A. Brown, after- which she was buried in the Albright graveyard in the vioinity of Mill Bridge. Aunt Betsy leaves to mourn ber death, many friends and relatiye8t for she was loved by everybody that knew her. She has been a if e-long faithful and consistent member of -; Lutheran Chapel church, . and in her . death this church loses one among "her best membars . Leroy . Wilhelm and wife lived with Mibs Albright and he will probably inherit her estate. An infant of Mr. and Mrs. Mar shall Comber's died Wednesday at Mt. Momh ohurch yesterday afternoon, Kev. B. S.
