that there is no class of eople in all
this country who need taking down a
"button hole" more than does a large
per cent of the young men registered as
students in North Carolina colleges.
In these colleges you will find an ele
ment that is dangerously near anarchy
and outlawry. They do not hesitate to
hold up the authority of the college,
when it runs counter to their wishes,
destroy and mutilate its projerty, and
visit all sorts of humiliating indignitif s
upon a young man whose only crime is
that he is spending hjs first year at col
lege. These are not hasty conclusions,
but are facts upon numerous examples
and are intended the guilty, and no
body elce. To be convinced that these
unwarranted practices of students are
on the increase, you oniy have to read
the papers, which tell about them in a
sections of our country.
