On Wednesday morning about 6:30 o'clock train No. 11 from Richmond to Atlanta, was wrecked at Reidy Fork trestle ten miles north of Greensboro, resulting in the death of at least 12 persons and the more or less severe injury, of 28 more. The two Pullman cars and three day coaches of the train left the track, hurling the passengers into the water of the creek 25 feet below. The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Alderman was held in the court room oj the city liall last Tues day night. A petition, signed by about 1000 citizens of the town, was presented to them, asking that the Alderman repeal the ordinance, pro viding that, after the 1st of April 1U10, no hogs could be kept within the cor porate limits of the city. Much oppo sition had developed against this ordi nance and after the Aldermen receiv ed the petition, signed by such a large number of people, they decided to re peal without any discussion by the outsiders. The Aldermen decided to suspend the ordinance relating to fire works, for one day only Christmas day.
