Sentences on Bud Clay and Roy Clay who were yesterday convicted on a charge of assault,, was that Bud Clay be made to pay a fine of $rp and one half the coasts, while Roy Clay pay one half the costs. W. R. Mullis, indicted with these two, came clear.; L. S. Teague, charged with dispos ing of mortgaged property, was found not guilty by the jury. James White plead guilty to Carry ing a concealed weapon, and was sen tenced to thirty days on the roads. G rover Powers, , charged with lar ceny of an automobile, was found guil ty by the jury, who recommended -clemency. He was sentenced to pay th? re pairs to the automobile and pay the costs in the court case. ' 1 The jury returned verdicts of not' guilty in the case of State vs. Tank Cook, charged with carrying a con cealed weapon ; and of State vs. Frank Thompson, alias Son Tomas charged with an affray. At the time the court adjourned for the noon recess, the court was hearing evidence in the case of State vs.. W. S. Cox, charged with the murder of his wife in Concord last June. ; DEATH OF A GOOD ' ' WOMAN IN LANDIS Mrs. Ida 'I.'-Deal Dies at Her Home in Land is Tuesday. Internment .Made at Landis. . Landis, April 24.- Mrs. Ida I. Deal, wife of Mr. J. Wilson Deal, of Landis, died at her home here Tuesday. A: She is survived by her husband, eight children, twelve grandchildren, five sisters, five brothrs. She leaves a host of friends to mourn her death.
