Sheriff Caldwell, Deputy Sheriff Propst and Patrolman McKay were witnesses in court Thursday Jn his report made to the City Clerk Thursday for September, Chief of Police Robinson showed that during last months 92 defendants had been arrested by local patrolmen. Frank Pressley was tried for embezzlement and probable cause was found, the man being bound over under a $100 bond. Pressley is charged with re ceiving $3.50 from a, colored man, which he was to send off to get some parts of a gun for the colored man, and with having kept the money. , The Concord Furniture Company was the scene of a happy occasion Thursday afternoon when a j Buck's Range was given away. The range was for children's use, and several hundred children of the city held coupon tickets, which contained a number. The lncky number was 157, which was held by little Miss Margaret Alexander, six year old (laughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Alexander, of Kerr Street.
