Kin?, Jan. 19.-Mr. J. Sam Kreeger. of Chestertown, Md.s is spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Kreeger, who reside near here. The residence of Mrs. W. G. Wright came near being destroy ed by fire Sunday. It caught from a stove flue in the kitchen, j About half of one side of the kitchen roof was burned. The entire building would have been burned had it not been for the heroic act of those present. Mrs. Minnie Kerby and child ren have returned after a short visit in Tobaccoville. The farmers' Union held an other meeting here Saturday. It is learned that work on the new union store, to be built here will be commenced at an early date. The union is making big gains in this section. Mr. N. E. Preston returned yesterday from the tobacco mar ket at Winston. He reports the weed selling better than a few weeks back. • DON'T FAIL TO EXAMINE OUR ® • $15.00 SUITS IN ODD LOTS ® • CHOICE $9.90 I We regret our inability to publish the list of the lucky number, which_ we • announced by circulars recently, owing to the fact that we find that it is a w violation of the Postal Laws and Regulations to have this announcement pub lished in any paper or circular that is to be carried through the mails, under f&k penalty of SI,OOO fine and two years imprisonment. • BOYLES BROS. COMPANY f X WINSTON-SALEM, N. C. 0 State Law Relative To Marriage Licenses. Winston Sentinel. Two ycung couples from For syth county have been married recently under marriage licenses issued in Forsyth county al though the ceremony was per formed in other counties. In view of these two mar riages recently it is well to call attention to the fact that both of them are null and void. A marriage license issued in one county is not good in another county, and it is to prevent mis takes of this kind that this ar ticle is published. The law says : "No minister or officer shall perform a cere mony of marriage between any two persons or shall declare them to be man and wife until there shall be delivered to him a license for the marriage of said persons signed by the regis ter of deeds of the county in i which the ceremony is intended I to take place or by his lawful deputy." Another matter that is not strictly observed in connection with marriage licenses is the return of the marriage licenses jto the register of deeds' office. ! The law requires them to be re turned within sixty days and unless this is done anyone may sue the minister or mag istrate and may secure S2OO damages. Frequently the li | censes are kept out for four or five months and in one case for nearly a year. SIOO REWARD. SIOO The readers of this paper will be pleased to learn that there is at least one dreaded disease that science has been able to cure in all its stages, and that is Catarrh. Hall's Catarrh Cure is the only positive cure now known to the medical fraternity, j Catarrh being a constitutional disease, requires a constitutional treatment. Hall's Catarrh Cure, is taken internally, acting directly upon the blood and mucous surfaces of the system, thereby destroying the foundation of the disease, -and giving the patient strength by building up the constitution and assisting nature in doing its work The proprietors have so much faith in its curative powers that they I offer One Hundred Dollars for any case that it fails to cure. Send for list of testimonials. Address : F. J. CHENEY & Co., Toledo, 0. Sold by Druggists, 75c. Take Hall s Family Pills for constipation. THE DANBURY REPORTER FROM CAMPBELL THE HAWKINS FAMILY LEAVE; Company at Work on Railroad Be tween Spray and Ridfeway — Mr. Morefield Succeeded by Mr. S. M. Shelton In the Merchandise Business. Campbell, Jan. 19—Mr. and Mrs. Van Mabe lift last Monday for Mt., Va., where he has secured employment in the mines. Miss Tobitha Watkins left last week for a visit to relatives in Mo. Letters received here by, friends, state the safe arrival i of Mr. Geo. W. Hawkins and family at Glen St. Mary, Fla. J They are much pleased with the climate and people. Trees are! full of oranges, and no such a thing as winter out there. Mr. E. H. Biggs is having a fine school at Smithtown. Al though whooping-cough has been prevalent, he has made a nice average and gave the children a nice entertainment Xmas. Both parents and pupils speak in high terms of his Instruction. 'Rah! for Smithtown, that's what we call progressing nicely.' Well, is it really possible that we are going to have a railroad ? It is said that a company has been chartered for one to Aug lin's Mill, a few miles below Sandy Ridge, and that they are now at work between Ridgewav and Spray. Of course if it i ! comes that close, Sandy Ridge can hope that it will come a few miles farther and take us all in. j Mr. L. B. Morefield moved his l stock of goods to his father's; the first of the year. Mr. A. M. Shelton now sells goods in the house formerly occupied by Mr. Morefield. Farmers are busy having chop pings and burning plant beds. Tobacco is selling very well from this section. Guess we wiil need some of those wedding bells soon.
