05CAL AND PE v The weather the past day or two has been warm and spring like. Mr. W. R. Stovall, of Camp bell, was among the visitors here Monday. Mr. J. Walter Joyce, of Sandy Ridge, was in town on business yesterday. Mr. Edward L. Martin, of Madison, paid Dan bury a short visit Monday. Mr. H. R. Nelson, a leading citizen of Critz, Va., was in town on business Monday and Tuesday. Mrs. J. Spot Taylor tendered a very enjoyable candy pull and social to her Sunday School class last night. Messrs. J. C. Wall and son, Watt, of Meadows, were here Monday a short while. Mr. H. W. Shelton, of Camp bell Route 1, spent a short while here on business Monday. Mr. L. R. Gravitt, one of Yad kin township's leading farmers and best citizens, was here on business today. Mr. Darian S. Watkins, of Walnut Cove, representing the tobacco manufacturing firm of of J. G. Flynt&Co., of Winston, was here Monday visiting the merchants. Misses Mary Lambeth and Mabel Crutchfield, who have been teaching here the past win ter, left today for their respective homes at Guilford College. The public school closed for this sea son yesterday. Beautiful Marriage. Oakwood Farm, the home of: Mr. and Mrs. James A. Marshall, j near Walnut Cove, was the scene i of a quiet but beautiful marriage | Sunday morning Feb. 12 at 6:30 o'clock when their cousins Mr. James Lee Marshall and Miss Delia Miles Middleton were uni ted in marriage, Esq. J. A. Mar shall officiating. Owing to the objections of the bride's parents, the intended marriage had been kept a profound secret. Miss Middleton came home with her cousins, Misses Selma and Lena Marshall, Saturday afternoon and spent the night. The cere mony was performed at the unu sual early hour the next morn ing, after which an elegant breakfast in three courses was served. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Dr. J. Walter Neal, of Mead ows, was here a short while Monday. Dr. Neal is not only one of the leading physicians of the county, but is also one of our biggest property-holders. Dr. W. C. Slate went to Smith Saturday afternoon to visit his niece, the young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Tilly, who is quite ill. Dr. Slate returned Sunday afternoon reporting the child a good deal better. Mr. Carl Ray left today for Whitsett Institute to enter school. Carl is a baseball player of county reputation, and it is learned that he has made a con tract with the Whitsett team to pitch for It. News reaches here that a mad dog at Dillard is doing some damage this week. It bit a large number of other canines, and the public will do well to be on the lookout for the epidemic of hydrophobia soon to be the result. The stockholders of the Stokes Couny Union Warehouse Com pany are hereby requested to meet at the court house in Dan bury on Saturday, Feb. 25th at 10 o'clock a. m. to attend to some very important business. Dear Reporter : Quite a large crowd of the young people of this section gave Mr. and Mrs. John Law son a storm party Saturday night. Among those present were Misses Sadie and Mary Pringle, Bessie and Erie Moore, Lucy and Gladys Lackey; Messrs. Sam Harris, Dr. A. J. Pringle, J. W. Lackey, Wesley Pringle, Chester Coleman, Jim mie Corns, Gid Moore, Powell Robertson, and Carlis Davis. All seemed to enjoy themselves fine. Mr. and Mrs. Harbor Wat kins and children, of Providence, R. 1., are visiting relatives in this section. There will be a box supper at Lawsonville school house, Satur day night, Feb. 18th. The public is cordially invited. There will also be preaching at Lawsonville school house Sun day. Messrs. Percy Sheppard and Fred Smith called at Mr. E. C. Sheppard's Sunday.
