THE DANBURY REPORTER LOST HOME AND CASH WOMAN'S SAD MISFORTUNE Mr*. Julius Miller Now Realizes Her Serious Mistake of a Life-time —She Now Believes ia Banks. A Hickory, North Carolina, newspaper, tells of the burning of the residence of Mrs. Julius Miller, of Hildebrand, Catawbfe county, recently. Mrs. Miller was not at home when the fire started, but when she arrived she rushed into the burning building, "snatched at the hiding place, and rescued some thing like $175.00 in greenbacks. She did not have time to get the coin, and just as she emerg ed from the house, the roof fell in." Mrs. Miller now has a mass of melted silver which she wants redeemed, but which the govern ment does not redeem. The value of melted coin money is only the value of the metal just as if it had never been coined. It is presumed that the first place visited by Mrs. Miller after the loss of her life-time savings was the bank, where she deposited the $175.00 saved from the fire. If she had been keeping it in the bank all time, she not only would not have lost the greater part of her money, but the interest it would have yielded would go far toward rebuilding the destroyed house. The people everywhere are learning—some of them through sad experience—that the place for money is in the bank. Some -1 times one not only loses the money itself by keeping it hid 1 away in the house, but loses life and property. You can't | keep people from the knowledge jthat you have money, neither jean you prevent people from f talking about where you keep it. The Bank of Stokes County has offices at Danbury and Wal nut Cove, where money, in any amount, large or small, JS taken either on checking account or interest account. If you put it in on checking account, you| get a nice check book free, and j can check out your money as; you need it If you put it in on j interest account the Bank pays! you 4 per cent compound inter- i est every three months, and any day you need interest or princi pal you can get it Write or call any day. THE BANK OF STOKES CO. Mr. R. I. Dalton, who was Sheriff of Stokes county for several years, is a candidate for Mayor of Winston-Salem.
