Page 8 "Aunt Jane" Writes About the Manner of Dress These Days. Where are the pure and virtu ous mothers of this day and land? Have we any or have we not? This is what comes to our mind when we come to think over our girls and rising generation, of their way and manner of dress. Shall we let them go off into a life of almost shame and disgrace and take up after every style and fashion that might come before them? or shall we try to hold a stricter rule over them? We ask you older mothers to help us hold a better rule over our child ren and not let them go off into every temptation set before them. We don't mean to confine our re marks to the city girls altogether, as we cannot expect any better of girls raised in town. They never have anything else to employ their minds except dress and how to make it. It isn't any wonder they study up and plan out such old fashions. But it reaches out into the country and takes hold j of our children, and we are to i blame for allowing our children to uphold such. The time has been in our: mother's and grandmother's time that they would blush with shame to see a girl appear in company dressed in a manner they sometimes dress in. I say j it and I believe any true woman will bear me out in the assertion | that no woman will unblushinglv dress in such a garb without lowering herself in the estima tion of humanity. Girls have you decided that you will have to live an old maid and put on the trousers or what's the matter? You know the men don't like for the women to wear the trousers after they marry and you know they don't like to c 0 M 1 N Q " x Large party of young ladies, Splendid music, mountain Make your arrangements to Z 2 Review's big voting contest, also trips, games, parties, social spend a few weeks at Piedmont 2 2 —a jolly, happy, romping crowd. gayetyof all kinds : : : • during June, and enjoy life : : 2 I ADDRESS TODAY FOR RATES W j Piedmont Springs Hotel | | Danbury, N. But ; some will say oh, it's no harm to wear them to play a little just for fun, but dear reader we can't see where there is any fun in anything that is immodest do you ? Modesty is not an accomplish ment, but is an inborn gift from God, which every woman has in i her bosom. Where shall we look ' for the hand that will snatch the | rising generation from the awful chasm of immorality which threatens our hand today and the j sons and daughters of this gen -1 eration. We shall not expect this re formation accomplished by the leaders of fashion, but we will look to the modest homes of mothers who raise their voices to God in humble supplication and who will teach their sons and daughters to reverence truth, manhood, womanhood and virtue. Oh, that we had a few more old fashioned mothers to breathe the spirit of virtue into the minds of our daughters. AUNT JANE. Pilot Mt. Sunday School Associa tion. Germanton, Route 1, May 12. Now, people, we | have heard what all of the good | ministers have told us and if we | ido as they say I think we will have a good Sunday School with-; out a doubt. Now there isn't any reason why there can't be a! good Sunday School at every j church in North Carolina, and would be if the people wanted it. Now, people, it all depends and let's see how good an out we can make at it. Say, people, didn't you know that only one fourth of the people go to Sun day School? Now, people, give! this question one thought—just ask yourself this question: Why is it that I don't go to Sunday School? and you can't find anyj reasonable answer to it. Some : people say I am looking for some certian ones to come and play j cards and marbles or something else. All don't go to Sunday ( School try to study up some ex-; i cuse. But if they will look at: 'the thing right they won't have! any excuse. There is more of of the older people needed in the Sunday School. Some of the young girls say: I am looking for my fellow to come, so I will, stay at home. Now, girls, you i all take to going to Sunday School! and your fellow will be sure to begin to go—you bet they will. Try it and see. Now, people, give this a thought and go to Sunday School. I know I don't give it j enough thought myself. Now let's see how fast we can increase all of our Sunday Schools. FRIEND. j Farmers Union Buys Newspaper.
