Mr. Will Slate to Miss Lucy Sheppard and Mr. J. R. Chilton, of Westfield, to Miss Callie Rogers, of Ashbury, the four sons and daughters of good fanners and citizens. We wish them a long and happy married life. Misses Maud Garner and Mary Moser have returned to their boarding places, where they will begin teaching again new year's day. Mr. Fount Clifton, of Pilot Mtn., has moved his son, Will, on the farm of Mr. F. P. Stone. Miss Lillian Simmons, who has been attending college at Red Springs, has returned home to spend the holidays with her J parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. L,' Simmons. Mr. Sam Jessup, of Westfield, is very sick from a stroke of paralysis last week. Mr. Andy Rogers goes down the road quite often. I wonder what attracts his attention so? Linville is aiming to move his sawmill in a few days down near Goodwill. Messrs. Ernest and Governor Flynn left last Tuesday for Moran's sawmill. Messrs. Hard Knight and Latney Flynn called at Mr. Israel Knight's Tuesday. Mrs. Sallie Bowles and daugh ter, Miss Dora, will leave Satur day for Rural Hall and Tobacco ville, where they will spend a week or two with friends and relatives. Mr. 0. J. Stone will soon have his house completed. Guess he will give a party then. Guess Mr. G. C. Davis is not smiling now as he called to see Miss Louella one night and she was not at home. Gravitt on King Route 2, Dec. 27, when their daughter. Miss Claudia, became the bride of Mr. L. C. Slate, son Mr. J. E. Slate, of Mizpah. The marriage was witnessed by only relatives and a few friends. The bride wore a gown of blue messaline silk, which was very becoming. Miss Mamie Gravitt, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, Mr. D. 0. Slate, brother of the groom, was best man, Miss Beulah Slate, sister of the groom, and Mr. G. W. Gravitt, brother of the bride, next, Miss Lonie Gravitt, cousin of the bride, and Mr. T. J. Rier son, of Winston. Soon after the ceremony was performed they received a welcome invita tion into the dining room where they had prepared a most beauti ful dinner for the occasion which was enjoyed by all to the utmost. After dinner they all returned to the parlor and had some good music on the organ by Mr. D. 0. Slate. All seemed to enjoy themselves until about 2 o'clock, when they started for the home of the groom, arriving about 4 o'clock I suppose. I am sure they found a hearty welcome, awaiting them. The writer was not present at the home of the groom. Mr. and Mrs. Slate expect to make their future home at Mt. View. Wishing them a long and hap py life. ONE PRESENT. CHAS. R.
