Petree visited Walnut Cove today on profession al business. Sheriff C. M. Jones completes his last round for the collection of the 19U taxes today. Messrs. Jas. and Raleigh Boaze, of Quaker Gap township, were visitors here today. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Blair, of Sandy Ridge, spent Saturday and Sunday here with relatives. Mr. Will V. Shelton, of Dan bury Route 1, is seriously ill and little hope is entertained for his recovery. Mr. Ed White, of Meadows Route 1, came very near getting his leg broken while hauling wood Monday. Mr. James Scales, of Madison, formerly Register of Deeds of Rockingham county, was in Danbury yesterday. There will be preaching at the Presbyterian church here Sunday morning at 11 o'clock by Rev. Mr. Bowers, of Asbury. Mr. John Bennett, of Danbury, who has been confined to his home with sickness for some weeks, is able to be out again. Misses Jessie Pepper and Grace Taylor will probably accept an invitation to spend Easter with Miss Mary Taylor at Salem College. Mr. Wilkes Priddy, Danbury Route 1, was here yesterday. He stated that his brother, Mr. J. J. Priddy, who has had a severe attack of rheumatism, was some better, but is still confined to his room. Mr. Jas. C. Flippin, of Francis co, was here Saturday on his way home from Walnut Cove where he placed the last of his crop of tobacco in the dry prizery. Mr. Flippin is one of the Union's most loyal members. Messrs. W. Y. Gordon and Wiley and James Baker, of Ger manton Route 1, visited Dan bury Monday on business. Mr. Gordon's daughter, Miss Ger trude, who recently underwent an operation in St. Leo's Hos pital at Greensboro for appendi citis, returned home Saturday, having fully recovered.
