BIS STOKES FARMER
Mr. R, J. Petree With the
Assistance of Young Son,
Produces Bumber
Crop.
IT MAKES HIM SWEAT
A Record That Can Hardly Be
Beaten Anywhare In the State.
Mr. R. J. Petree and Mrs.
Petree of Germanton spent a
short while in town Friday. Mr.
Petree had no special business
in town, but just came over on
a short visit to relatives and
friend*, as he was well up
with his work on the farm, and
felt like resting for a change.
Mr. Petree is one of the hardest
working men in the county, and
is easily one of our leading
farmers. The work which
he has accomplished this year,
with scarcely any help but his
young son Ralph, reads like a
fairy story, but we know that it
is so, because Mr. PeWee said so.
Listen: He has 49 1-2 acres
of fine wheat, ready to cut;
about 13 acres in rye, part of it
turned for corn to follow; a few
acres in oats; 20 acres in corn
and 40,000 hills of tobacco. He
has been over many of his crops
once or twice already, and has
his work well in hand, but he
feels quite like saying w-h-e-e-w!
Do you blame him?
The Reporter doubts if this
record can be beaten
in the State by an : one man and
a boy, with probably just a few
days of hired help.
