June 24. —Thej lawn party that was given by j the Walnut Cove ball team Sat-1 urdav evening at the ball park was quite a success and veryi highly enjoyed by everyone present. One of the most interesting and exciting games of ball of the season was played here .Sat urday afternoon when the, "All Stars" of Winston were defeated by the homelteam to the tunefcof four to three. Mr. J, Wesley Morefield of Sandy Ridge Route 1 was in town Monday looking after the building of his new* dwelling house on North Main Street. Mr. Thomas Rothrock spent a few days last week visiting relatives. Mr. R. L. Murphy went to Winston last week on business. Misses Lenoir and Delva Lewis of Atlanta. Ga., are spending some time in town as the guests of Miss Lucy Burton. Mrs. Ann Rierson is very much improved after an attack of illness last week, her friends will be glad to learn. 1 Mr. L. C. Bryant of Dobson was in town last week en route to Roanoke. Ya. Mr. A. E. Strader visited Wins ton last Thursday. Mrs lVlc'Gee and little son, Frank, of Germanton. were in town last Thursday enroute to Winston. Mr S. W Gentry of Mt. Airy was in town Sunday as the guest of his sister, Mrs. W. S. Allen Penry and John Morton, of Winston-Salem, were in town Sunday. Misses Ida and Gorrell Mat lock returned to their home at Winston-Salem Sunday after visiting: Vi3s Flossie Lasley. Mr. Davis Ayers, of Roanoke, Virginia, was in town Monday, leaving that afternoon for Mt. Airy. Messrs. A. E. Strode and Minnish Wheeler spent the day Tuesday at Winston-Salem. Mr. Lee Murray returned Monday from Greensboro where he visited his wife who is at St. Leo's Hospital. Mr. R. L. Murphy made a business trip to Winston-Salem j today. Walnut Cove, June 23.—There | is a lot of sickness in town along | now. The little son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. James is right sick with fever and lots of other cases in town. Rev. Mr. A. Morton of High Point preached an excellent, sermon at the Junior Hall Satur day and Saturday night. Mrs. S. L. Murry, who under went an operation at Greensboro, came home Saturday and is fully recoved. The young people had a picnic at the mineral spring Monday evening. They all report a nice time. Mr. O. W. Flynt of Meadows called on Miss Ola Duggins Sun day. Methodists held their Childrens Day exercises at StokesburgSun day. The program was highly appreciated and a targe crowd present. Mr. L. M. Hall of Winston called on Miss Daisy Tay lor Sunday. Miss Stella Rierson is visiting Miss Minnie Rierson of Thomas ville. Mr. L. T. Isom has purchased himself a nice farm east of i of town Miss Lillie Wheeler is visiting j friends at Pilot Mtn. for a few days.
