The State Agricultural De
partment has announced the
following dates for Farmer's
Institutes for Stokes and neigh
boring counties:
Stokes—Walnut Cove, August
13; Danbury. August 14; West
field, August 6.
Forsyth—Rural Hall, August
7; Burk Grove, August 11;
Clemmons, August 12; Kerners
ville. August 19.
Guilford—Pleasant Garden,
July 25; Deep River Schoolhouse,
August 18; Battle Ground,
August 19; McLeansville, August
20.
Surry—Copeland, August 2;
Antioch church, August 4; Pilot
Mtn., August 5.
Rockingham—Ruffin. July 23;
New Bethel Academy, August
15.
These institutes are growing
in popularity each year, and
should be much better attended
than they are.
A new feature this year will
be the department of dairy
institute and everyone who makes
butter for market, or even keeps
cows only for the family supply
of milk and butter, should be on
hand. Carry out samples of
your milk and hive them analyz
ed thus learning whether your
cows are paying or not, and
what changes, if anv, are needed
in your feeding.
Mr. Alex, lewellyn Dead.
Mr. Alex. Lewellyn died
Wednesday night of last week at
the home of his son-in-law, Mr.
John Neal, at Meadows, after
an illness of a year or more. He
was about 56 years old and is
survived by his wife and three
children. Interment was made
in the burying ground at the
Stewart school house Friday.
