Lindley, of Rural Hall, assisted I by Rev. W. C. Lassiter, of ! Julian, has been holding a meet ing at King Tabernacle this week at nights. The services were well attended and the sermons were splendid. The meeting closed last night, and the ministers will return to their stations this morning. Messrs. R. T. Coe and P. L. Culler are painting the High School building this week. Mrs. N. 0. Tuttle, of Rural Hall, is visiting her parents this week. As a result of the Governor's j "good roads" proclamation, we are pleased to report that hundreds of hands spent Wednes day and Thursday in the cause and that a great work has been done and a work that our citizens are proud of. Mrs. Joe Stone and son visit ed at Mr. B. F. Pulliam's Wednesday. Mr. T. F. Baker and family moved in their new residence this week, and Mr. P. W. Gunttr into the one vacated by Mr. Baker. Mr. H. K. Ashby ! moved in the one vacated by I Mr. Gunter. A protracted is in progress at Sinai Holiness church for several d:iys and continues yet for an indefinite period. Groat interest is manifested by a i few and largo crowds are in attendance. Notwithstanding the high ' price of tobacco the farmers in : this immediate section have sown a large crop of wheat and expect to make grain as well as tobacco. Meeting 61 the Teachers In Raleigh The teachers of the State will ibe granted holiday without loss l of pay, November 28th, Friday !of Thanksgiving week, in order to enable them to attend the North Carolina Teachers' Assem bly, which holds session in Raleigh November 26-29 th, if j the request of State Superinten dent J. Y. Joyner and that of Secretary E. E. Sams, of the Teachers' Assembly, is granted by the city and county boards of education. The officers of the Assembly have sent out a circular letter to all the school boards and com mittees, with the earnest request that this holiday be granted. 1 They call attention to the splen did session of the Assembly last ■ year, held at the sama time, which was attended by over 1,200 teachers of e State and proved of great inspiration and practical j benefit to them in the work of their profession, and at which : time a majority of the boards of trustees allowed the teachers to | attend without loss of pay. The opening session of the I Assembly is Wednesday evening, ; November 23th. A great ma | jority of the teachers of the State can reach Raleigh Wed nesday in time for this session, j leaving their homes after the j close of the school that day. The next day is Thanksgiving Day and a national holiday. Thus by the granting of only one holi day the boards will enable the teachers to attend thf fall ses sion of the As33mbl \ having Raleigh after the last, meeting Saturday morning an-] arriving home before Sunday.
