Parties returning from Wal nut Cove this week report that since the finishing touches are being put on the new road • from Mr. J. I. Blackburn's to Wal nut Cove it is doing fine. Dur ing the recent rainy weather, while the top-soil was being put on, there was some complaint of the road being bad, but since it is beginning to pack, much praise is being given the road. Mr. Geo. R. Smith, the super intendent, says that when this road is finished it will be one of the best roads in the State. Brim's Grove. Brim's Grove, Dec. 15. —Rev. W. H. Beamer fil'ed his regular appointment at Brim's (.Jrove Saturday and Sunday. Mr. S. W. Sams, who has been confined to his bed for some time with pneumonia, is improving. Mrs. Eliza Roberts, who has been in the hospital at Winston for some time, has returned home much improved, we are glad to note. Mr. W. R. Covington's mule b3came frightened while stand ing hitched to a buggy at Brim's Grove church and turned it over breaking both shafts and broke the harness up considerably, but no one was hurt. The box supper given at the Gibson school Saturday even ing was a success. They sold seven boxes averaging $2.00 each. The highest box was made by Miss Bertha Tilley and b-'ught $4.00.
