j Dead Body of Cuilen Powell of Warsav/
Found By Road.
Gcldfcboro, N. C. —Mr. Cullen Powell a prominent farmer of War
saw was found dead on the county road Sunday. By the side of the
dead man was found a stick about three feet long, with which it is
supposed the man was murdered. He had a scar on his head and
check which leave evidence that he was dealt a deadly blow from
behind.
The object of the murder was doubtless for the purpose of robbery,
as Mr. Powell left Warsaw with a large sum of money on his person.
A coroner's jury Sunday morning held its sitting in the court room
in the Edgerton building. Three suspects were arrested, these being
John Stobbs, Lem Pigford and Jim Franklin, all white men. Pigford
was released later as there was no evidence to hold him, but the
other two are being held until the murder can be more fully investi
gated by officers.
The papers all over the country are full of instances showing how
dangerous it is to carry money on the person or in the home. We invite
you to keep your money in our strong steel safes and vaults, where it is
protected in every way against loss.
