The unfortunate woman was sitting in front of the fire—an oi>?n jrnite—near the crib in which her baby was sleeping. Her dress was of light, highly inflammable material, and when it caught it burned rapidly. It wa; lirst noticed by a servant as she entered the ream, an I when apprised of her situation Mrs. Martin became alarmed and rushed into the >ard. The wind was blowing strongly and i in an instant, and screaming in agony, she became a mass of flames. The clothing was burned entirely from her ho ly, but in spite of her injuries she was able to walk into the house.
