(Danville Register:) Industrial activity in Danville Tuesday was perhaps higher than at any other time since the "gloom wave" precipitated by the European war reached this country. Things went humming all day long, the tobacco sales blocked for the first time this season, the farmers were busy buying Christmas supplies and farm stock, turkeys for the Thanksgiving dinner seemed to swamp the city and the merchants of the city were busily engaged selling goods of all descriptions and getting out their winter and Christmas dis plays. The tobacco sales were most encouraging, and it reminded the warehouse men of this time a year ago. While the common, dark tobacco predominated, the prices for such were better than usual. There was an eager de mand for good tobacco, some piles bringing thirty, forty and even fifty dollars where the quality permitted. The upward tendency of prices, too, pleased the farmers greatly, and probab ly more money was spent in the city Tuesday than for many a day past.
