PINNACLE HIGH SCHOOL 1 Will Open With New Faculty On October 4th --One New Teacher Added. Pinnacle, Sept. 27.—The Pin nacle High School will open Mon day, October 4. We are looking forward to a good opening, and are going to work hard to hold the stand ing of the school as high as it has ever been. Through the kindness of Prof. J. T. Smith an extra teacher has been added to the faculty. And we hope to be able to do more thorough work in the lower grades. As regards the course of study j and management the school has : been gradually getting better. Principal A. R. (iay has been j elected to succeed Mr. R. A. Sul- j livan, who for the past two years ; has done commendable work in our school and under whose ad ministration the course of study has been systematized and the quality of work greatly improv ed. Mr. A. R. (Jay comes to us * highly recommended and we anticipate a successful year for our school. We most earnestly urge that all loyal patrons and friends of the school join in contributing their means and influence to make this year the banner year Times Are Getting Good Again Fine Crops Mean Great Prosperity to The County. The two-year-old child of Mrs. ' Lula Wall, who resides near Vade ! j Mecum Springs, was burned to death the past week. It is not j known how the child caught fire, ; but it is supposed that it found f some matches while its mother ; was away from the house. Raleigh, Sept. 2~>.—As indicat ing an expectation of consider able increase in the volume of freight to be moved the next few months and a general wave of prosperity in consequence of this, the Public Service Com mission, Baltimore, has sent out ja general circular to railroads, I shippers and consignees of I freight to the effect that the ' present indications are that there : will be an unusually heavy move i | ment of car load freight in | ! grains, coal, cement, fertilizer ' and the like during the fall months and that the railroads will probably find it difficult to furnish a full supply of cars to meet the demands. And that the interests of all can be best served by the most prompt load ing and unloading and handling of cars in order to obtain the maximum service from the avail able equipment.
