during the last two days of the body
and these whieh came up this week
were expected to be put across be
fore adjournment Friday night.

ernor the head in fact of the State's
financial policies; transferring the
auto license bureau and tie insur
ance department revenue collecting

olina will receive for the two years
making a Total that has

Mr. Douirhton stated that he will
still continue his interest in the
good road movement, and believes
that it will become a fixed policy
with the federal government to ap
propriate money for road building,
although there is considerable senti
ment, especially in the large cities
against this form of governmental
activity.
When questioned as to the prob
able work of the n \t congress re
lative to tariff at ', taxation mat
ters. Mr. Douirhton stated that in
all probability the ways and means
committee would ni"et in advance

North Carolina when the House Com

sent of a majority of association
members in her county, Declaring
that she might not know much about

Representative H. («. Connor, of
Wilson County, who has been an
irtivi* figure in litigation against
the tobacco association, argued for
forty minutes in an attempt to prove
that it was constitutional for the
legislature to authorize inemliers of
the association in North Carolina

George Ross, head of the Division
if Markets in North Carolina, de
larcd that the bill, if passed, would
■seriously injure forty co-operative
Associations which the farmers of
the state had formed in order to im
prove their condition by orderly
marke' ing.
Deliveries of tobac.o to the as
sociation have now brought its total
receipts of this season to more than
inn million pounds, am rding to the
latest report.
Within three years of operation
the association has received more
