AUTO LICENSE ANI) GAS TAX FOR YEAR JUST CLOSED .North Carolina collected SI2,MS 1,848.88 and About Half Million of This Will Go Into Road Building Fund—lncrease Was More Than Two Million Over Last Year. The fiscal year closed yester-, day for the collection of auto mobile license taxes and gaso line taxes, and Commissioner Douchton's report shows that North Carolina collected for the year $12,381,848.88, and which was an increase of nsore than two million dollars over Jast year. The collection i last year amounted to $10,130,486 83. Mr. Doughton says this money will be used as follows: | For linking fund and interest' on bonds, $4,000,000 For maintenance of road J 4.000,000 For current expenses, 250,000 This leaves a balance of $4,- 131.000.00, which goes into the road construction fund, Mr. Dough ton says. And divided among the nine districts it will give each State highway com missioner about a half million dollars for roads in his district. In addition to this each commissioner gets his proportional part of the $350,- 000.00 which comes to North Carolina for roads from the Federal Government each year out of the $75,000,000 approp riated by Congress.
