Winston-Salem, Walnut Cov?, Danbury and other sections of Stokes in a conference Monda' - over the proposed location of the new hardsurface highway through the town of King. After deliberating, the com mission refused to change its location of the road, which will be parallel to the present throughfare through the town of King, and a hundred or two yards distant. The meeting was held in the school building at King. Present were a large number of Kin.; business people, as well as citi- j zens from Walnut Cove, German-1 ton. Danbury and other sections, of the county, who joined with 1 the King citizens in protest at J the commission's location of the! 1 road. Chairman Waynick explained ! that the commission was building 1 the road with an eye not only to' 1 the best interests of the State, ■ tut to the town itself, which : • would not, he said, be damage j • so much as it thought.
