King, July 21.- Mis. Sarah M. Smith, aged »0, widow of Thos. B. Smith, di'-,| at her home here Monday. The deceased who was' one of the oldest people in this section is survived by two sons, Thos. E- Smith, of King, and D. C. Smith, Winston-Sa'em; foui daughters survive. They are Mrs. David S. Edwards, Mrs. D. C. Cromer and Mrs. O. E. Kiscr, of | King, and Mrs. R. S. Lemons, of King. Also 27 grandchildren and! | 11 great-grandchildren, and a great host of friends. Mrs. Smith; had spent her entire life in this county and had a very wide ac quaintance. She will be greatly missed both in the home an i community. The funeral srrvke which was in charge of Rev- F. T. Sims, of Winston-Salem, was conducted at Mount Olive church of which she had long be>"n a: t faithful member Tuesday after- noon at two o'clock and inter ment followed |n the church cemetery. Herbert Pfaff, merchant of To baccoville, was a business visitor here Saturday. Miss Minnie Ashburn, of Win ston-Salem, visited her sister, Mis. G. E. Stone, over the week end. Miss Opal Dos s left last week j for High Point where she ente»s training in the Burrus hospital. ! Atty. H. H. Leake, of Winston- Salem, was here Saturday look ing after legal matters. Fred E. Score 7 and 1. Peyton Hutchins has returned to his home in Lexington, Ky, after spending a short while with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Everette Stone and Frank Stone are spending a week at Carolina Beach Junior Adkins, aged about 17. son of Mr. and Mrs. Rural Ad kins, committed suicide at his home near Perch Saturday morn ing about one o'clock. He arose and went into the kitchen a»d blew the top of his head off with a shotgun. No reason could be assigned by the family for the young man's rash act. He leaves a widow and one small child. Joel Y. Southern, of Flatshoal, formerly of King, was a busi ness visitor here Friday. While here Mr. Southern stated that he ! had some fine porkers, but would i not butcher them until after the | fair this fall, a s he wanted to trot them on the race track.
