Elsie Lawson; Durward Belmont, Roger Westmoreland; Malcolm Everett, Moyer Watts; Mrs. Graham, Hazel Hall; and Frank Pulliam. • Death of Joseph Varner Joseph Varner, aged 82, died £arly Saturday morning, March 22, at his home, LawsonVille, Route 1, after a brief critical ill ness. • Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mintora Craddock Varner; two daughters, Mrs. John Duvant and Mrs. Ruth Hill of Leaksville; one son, Peter D. Gilbert of Stuart, j 'Ve 1 H a Danville hospital ] P' Volume 66 Sudden Death of Mrs. Jess Adams Mrs. Frances Fulton Adairis, aged 76, died suddenly Monday at Winston-Salem. She iiad been ill for some time, but her sudden death came as a distinct shock in. relatives. | Mrs. Adams was born in For- j syth county June 17, 1864, daughter of Jacob and Sally Mai shall Fulton. She married J. J. Adams November 23, 1830, ar.l lived in Winston-Salem 56 yeais. Mr. Adams died in 1929. I Mrs. Adams was a member of Centenary Methodist Church and the Woman's Auxiliary of that church. For many years she took a prominent part in women's church activities. She is survived by one daugh ter, Mrs. Julia Adams Hine.s, j Winston-Salem; one son, Jessie J. 1 Adams. Winston-Salem; one sis ' ter, Mrs. H. H. Davis, Walnut 'Cove; one brother, J. H. Fulton, Walnut Cove; on: half brother, Jacob Fulton, Walnut Cove; one half sister, Mrs. Sally Pepper, i Walnut Cove; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at , Vogler's Chapel with Rev. H. Grady Hardin and Bishop J. X. j Pfohl officiating. * Interment was i in Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul, William and Fuel Fulton, S. H. Adams, Jr., Fred T. Adams and Willis Adams. Death of J. T. Collins James T. Collins, Bon of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tuck Collins of Francisco, died at Chester, S. C.. Sunday. v ; f , Ted Gerry Hurt In Car Smash Ted Gerry of Walnut Cove was hurt more or less seriously in a car wreck in Winston Saturday. Gerry was unconscious when he was taken the hospital. The ac cident occurred when the coupe driven by Gerry collided with a truck operated by Henry Frank lin Rominger. Highway Patrolman Herman Ivey placed Rominger under bond for reckless driving and driving without proper license. Gentry is reported im; roving.
