THE DANiUEY REPORTER INFORMATION ON INCOME TAX Since the law provides that a "Declaration of Estimated In-' come and Victory Tax, be filedi by individuals who come with in the classes set forth in this column last week, on or before the 15th of September, or not la ter than December 15 if the tax payer classifies as a farmer, in which case 80 percent of his gross income must come from farming, | And since the greater majority of taxpayers in this county will classify as "Farmers," this col umn will continue to deal with matters relative to the "Declara tion for the next few weeks. PENALTIES In the case of a failure to make and file a required declaration of estimated tax within the time prescribed, there shall be added I to the lax an amount equal to 10 I percent of the tax. That is 10 percent of the total tax shown on the March return unreduced by credits. In the case of the failure to pay an installment of the estima- j ted tax within the time prescrib- [ ed, there shall be added to the tax $2.50 or 2 1-2 percent of the ' tax, whichever is the greater, for ' each installment with respect to which such failure occurs.
