. As there seems to be a misunder
standing as to whether or not there
is an authorized branch of the Sal
vation Army in Durham, we pub
lish the following extracts from a
letter just received by Mr. P. McWil
liams from Major Alfred VellsTwho
is in charge of this division, which
seems to settle the question. Major
Wells says:
"I cannot understand how the
idea was left among the soldiers of
Durham that there was to be any
meetings held in the name of the
Army after the officers left. This
was never our intention.
We wish all the comrades to thor
oughly understand that there is now
no Salvation Army in Durham and
that no meetings or anything must
be held in our name."
