To the Citizens of Wilmington and the County of New Hanover: The Board of Managers of the JAM Erf WALKER MEMORIAL HOSPIT AL big to announce that the new hospital, which was donated to the city and county by the late James Walker, has been completed and delivered to tho Hoard of Managers. Aniple provision has been made by the city and county authorities for the support and maintenance of the hospital. Before its usefulness can be re alized, it must be furnished and equipped; and this duty is among the first that has devolved upon the Board of Managers in assuming charge of the property. A careful estimate has been made and it is ascertained that it will require at least six thousand dollars to properly furnish and equip tho hos pital. An appeal is now made to the citizens of the city and county to sup ply this amount. It having- beeen suggested that many private citizens would desire to make contributions towards this purpose, the board has decided to open subscription lists in order that an opportunity may be afforded to those who desire to do so. to contribute. These subscription lists are in the hands of Dr. ( P. Holies, the secretary of the board, at the office of Messrs. Hugh MaeRao it Company, bankers, and it is hoped that liberal contributions will be made. It has been decided that, in order to have the hospital uniformly and properly equipped, the same must lie done under the supervision of the board of managers, and that on this account, the contributions must be in cash.
