It is as ridiculous as it is taise, and is a very stupid attempt by its author to create a sensation. Designs for the new 6000 ton cruisers, are now being received by Secretary Whitney. An award of $15,000 was authorized by Congress to be paid to the person whose design shall be accepted as the best. .g. ST.1TE VEMrs. Dealers in fish now have about as much as they can attend to in pack ing shad for the Northern markets. These fish are now running freely and consequeutly the catch is large.
