Moresburg, OnU April 23. A freight train going west on the grand trunk railway went through the bridge at Nash Creek this morning. The en gineer and fireman were killed and a brakeraan was badly injured. Thir teen loaded cars were piled into the gorge and smashed to atoms. The Kentucky distillers association has come to an agreement with a number ot large distillers outside the associa tion by which the production of Ken tucky whisky will be limited, an agreement to suspend .operations on May 1st next uutil March 1st, 1888, and then to run only during March, April and May, has been extensively signed, and meetings will be held soon to decide upon a penalty for a viola tion of the agreement. United States Consul-General Phelan yester day telegraphed to Ottawa inquiring whether several of the damaged fish ing vessels in port could obtain sup plies of salt, and a reply was received to the effect that such could not be al lowed under the treaty. Application was also made through the customs department topermit one American schooner to transfer a quantity of bait to another which was granted, but be fore the answer came stating that the request had been received favorably, one of the vessels had left port. There were .seven distressed American schoonersat port yesterday nearly all of which desire to obtain supplies of salt.
